Founding History
Whatever a concept is, it has some valid reasons. Same is the case with formation of Khabaja Education Fund (KEF). Reasons are more than one. Many parents of Tripura community cannot enroll their children in primary school mainly due to lack of money and knowhow. As a result, the children remain at home and grow up without education. They think, it is a curse from heaven upon them.
The children who are by now attending school (primary and secondary), cannot prolong their study. Because, their parents are poor. They cannot afford their educational expenses. With this education, the children cannot enter into job market, which is much competitive. There is a saying, "An idle brain is devil's workshop". They find bad companions and become spoiled.
This unwelcoming situation draws attention of some social activists, college and university students. Individually they thought. On Friday, December 6, 2013 many such well-wishers met at Tripura Kallyan Sangsad, Bandarban convened by Abraham Tripura.
After threadbare discussion, following decisions have been taken:
(1) An education fund has been established in the name of Khabaja Education Fund. Stipend/scholarship will be provided to poor Tripura students who cannot bear schooling/tuition fee in secondary, college and higher education (high school, college and university).
(2) An Executive Committee consisting of nine members (Chairman-1, Vice-Chairman-1, General Secretary-1, Treasurer-1, Office Secretary-1 and executive members-4) will administer the overall day to day activities of the education fund.
(3) The committee will raise money from members, benevolent persons, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), churches, government institutions and business corporations for the education fund and support poor students for the said purposes.
